Companion services consist of non-medical care, supervision and socialization activities provided to an adult on a one-on-one basis or in groups not to exceed three recipients. This service must be provided in direct relation to the achievement of the recipient’s goals. A companion provider may also assist the recipient with such tasks as self-care needs, meal preparation, laundry and shopping; however, these activities shall not be performed as discrete services. This service does not entail hands-on medical care. Providers may also perform light housekeeping tasks, incidental to the care and supervision of the recipient. The service provides access to community-based activities.
A Wide Range of Opportunities
Respite care is a service that provides supportive care and supervision to a recipient when the primary caregiver is unable to perform these duties due to a planned brief absence, an emergency absence or when the caregiver is available, but temporarily physically unable to care for or supervise the recipient for a brief period. Provided to consumers age 21 and under.
HOMEMAKER & COMPANION (AHCA)
Help others succeed!
A homemaker does household chores that include housekeeping, cooking, shopping assistance, laundry, and other routine household tasks. In addition to the above, a companion may provide companionship for the client such as keeping a person company at home or going with the person to appointments or other outings. No hands on personal care.
